Puerto Caldera Terminal is located in the province of Puntarenas, and it is in the concession process of Public Services Management.

ARE WE?

Puerto Caldera is on the central Pacific coast of Costa Rica, Central America. It is strategically located, for it is at the same distance to all national boundaries. The port is connected overland through Highway Route 27, at 76 km from San José, Costa Rica’s capital city.

WAREHOUSE (A220)

Sociedad Portuaria de Caldera A220 is the only Customs Warehouse at our Port Facilities for temporary storage of import and export cargo upon compliance with applicable documentation requirements.

In our facilities it is possible:

  • To have a space for customs officials to perform physical and documentary inspections.
  • The cargo can remain up to one year from its arrival until the payment of taxes.
  • By having unrestricted access to the equipment at the Port of Caldera, it is possible to handle units with cargo that cannot be handled in external warehouses, saving time and costs for our customers.
  • Not having a platform is a strength since it is not necessary the use of a chassis for the transport and permanence of the containers in our warehouse, avoiding extra costs to our customers.
  • We have backup areas for container storage that our competitors do not have.
  • Additionally, we are land transporters

Charges

In the case of SPC, the fee schedule includes rates for concession services and those approved to INCOP by the Regulatory Authority for Public Services (ARESEP) in Costa Rica. For SPGC, the fee schedule includes rates for services under the Concession Agreement.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid Labor Risks Policy.
  • Template reported to INS that includes the person(s) to be enrolled.
  • Workforce reported to the CCSS that includes the person(s) to be enrolled.
  • Certification issued by the CCSS indicating that the company is up to date with its obligations.
  • Current Delinquency Sheet.
  • Caldera Port Society card.
  • Carrying of Basic Personal Protective Equipment
  • (Helmet, Vest and Safety Shoes).

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • Current Civil Liability policy issued by INS, coverages A and C.
    A and C.
  • Official receipt of payment of the INS civil liability policy.
  • Valid vehicle registration card of the vehicle to be registered.
  • Vehicle Technical Inspection of the vehicle to be registered (RTV) in force.
  • Toll and weighing ticket.

Important Notes

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • SPC does not accept grace periods extended by INS.
  • We reserve the right to accept certifications issued by Insurance Agents.
  • We reserve the right to accept premium deposit receipts.
  • INS Virtual Teller receipts must indicate paid status and date of payment.
  • No cell phone while driving.
  • No photos.
  • No videos.
  • The entrance requests must be made 48 hours in advance from Monday to Friday (working days), either for entrance to the port facilities or for renewal of permits due to expiration.

Card issuance requirements

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid Labor Risks Policy.
  • Letter of request for the issuance of the card, with the person’s data (ID card, full name and position), signed by the authorized persons in the registration form or by the legal representative of the company, in hard copy.
  • Proof of payment, the card has a value of $5.65, in physical form.
  • Carry your valid identity card.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Card issuance schedule, Monday to Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. (Except holidays).
